About Susan

NAME
Susan J. Holdsworth

UNIVERSITY
University of Huddersfield

HERITAGE
Susan was born in Yorkshire with English, Irish and Welsh ancestors.  Susan’s maternal grandfather, Jack Green, was in the Royal Cops of Signals and went to fight at the battle of El Alamein. Her paternal grandfather John Hamer fought in Northern Europe during WW2. Family stories led to a lifelong major interest in genealogy

HOBBIES
In addition to genealogy, Susan likes to travel and is a keen reader. Her favourite genre is, of course, genealogical mysteries and thrillers

At the moment Susan is reading and thoroughly enjoying Nathan Dylan Goodwin's The Deserter's Tale. This is the latest in the Morton Farrier series. With the action mainly centred around Morton's trip to Rootstech, he investigates the tangled tale of Juliette's elusive ancestor, who most certainly did not want to be found! Starting with the pleasures of trying to work from home to the background accompaniment of young children, through losing hours whilst researching, this is a novella that is thoroughly entertaining, and which ends on a bit of a cliffhanger! Highly recommended. ( but I suggest reading previous books first )

WHAT WE CAN DO
We can search local and national records, tracing your family history back as far as it can be traced.  We can delve into you past and uncover your ancestors, or research more recent relatives

HOW FAR BACK HER OWN TREE GOES
Susan has been tracing her tree since 1977. During this time she has traced her maternal line to 1620 when Hugh Gates was born in Ringwood, Hampshire, being Susan’s 10 x great grandfather

Why use my genealogy research services?

Over 40 years ago I watched a TV series about Kunta Kinte, and became interested in drawing up my own family tree, and caught the family history bug! My family tree now spans five centuries, and across England, Ireland Wales, America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Having been so successful, I decided to offer my services as an ancestry researcher tracing family trees for other people. This was initially as favour for family and friends, plus work colleagues. They all asked if I had thought of becoming a professional researcher. A major change in circumstances finally prompted me to take the step.
As an experienced genealogist / family tree professional I have undertaken extensive ancestry research projects from the 1600's onwards using national and local sources and I have traced literally tens of thousands of ancestors.
I thoroughly enjoy tracing a hard to find relative or ancestor. If you would like to know more about your family, get to know your ancestors and more about their lives, if you are asking yourself "Where can I find a family tree professional to trace my family tree" then I am the researcher you're looking for!

You never know. Could you be descended from or related to someone rich and famous? Heroes or villains? Did they stay in the same village for centuries, or did they take the whole family to explore new opportunities?
